UPDATE (15 December 2021)

Following the First Minister's statement yesterday (14 December), while there is no change affecting domestic cleaning directly, we feel this is a good time to underline some of the measures and guidance which we already have in place. For the safety of all our clients and cleaners, we recommend:

  • Testing regularly (free LFD tests are available here)

  • Not working if you are symptomatic or test positive (Cleaners)

  • Cancelling your cleaning if you are symptomatic or test positive (Clients)

  • Getting vaccinated and getting the booster jab

  • When cleaning work is being done:

    • Ventilating the home (eg open windows)

    • Wearing masks (client and cleaner)

    • Social distancing and staying out of the room the cleaner is working in (if client us at home)

    • Cash free payment where possible

Please click here for our Cleaning and Safety Guidance and please ensure this is adhered to while any cleaning work is being carried out.

Given the outbreak of Omicron it is as important as ever that we all to remember to take these safety measures.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact me anytime directly on 07376 353243 or you can email me at support@thehomemaid.co.uk

Take care and Best wishes

UPDATE (23 April 2021)

Scotland moves to level 3 from 26 April. Scottish government guidance is that tradespeople can work in other people’s homes providing they follow guidance on working safely. This includes all in-home workers such as utility engineers, domestic cleaners, furniture delivery and installations.

It is great news for some of our clients and who had suspended their service and for those cleaners who were unable to work due to the restrictions.

Of course we have to remain cautious and it is vitally important that while work is being carried out in the home, that it is done so safely. Click here for our Cleaning and Safety Guidance and please ensure this is adhered to while cleaning work is being carried out.

Hopefully this is us finally on the path out of the pandemic but of course there is clearly still a long way to go.

If you have any questions about any of the above, please feel free to contact me on 07376 353243 or email me at support@thehomemaid.co.uk

Take care!

Joanna

UPDATE (16 January 2021)

Current Scottish Government guidance states that domestic cleaning services in the home can continue ‘in support of a clean and safe living environment for people in vulnerable circumstance, living with a disability or otherwise unable to clean their own home’.  We are happy to continue offering our service to support clients where house cleaning is essential.

When cleaning work is being carried out, please observe our Cleaning & Safety Guidance which can be found here

Thank you and please stay safe!

Scotland moves into national lockdown from 5 January 2021. For any client who wishes to suspend their service we will of course offer a refund of the agency fee during the lockdown period.

When cleaning work is being carried out, please observe our Cleaning & Safety Guidance which can be found here

Thank you to all our clients and cleaners for your continued support. If there is anything we can do to help or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Joanna -

CLEANER AND CLIENT UPDATE (8 October 2020)

This update follows the announcement from Scottish government yesterday (7/10/20).

We are open for business as normal and we are continuing to provide our service with the Cleaning and Safety Guidance we outlined back in March to ensure the health and safety of all.

Tradespeople and workers are allowed to enter people's homes to carry out work. The Scottish government website states "Work carried out in people’s homes can continue, as long as physical distancing guidance is followed and provided the tradesperson is well and is not showing coronavirus symptoms and neither they nor any of their household are self isolating.

We are also in contact with all our Cleaners and have issued them our Cleaning and Safety Guidance linked above.

As it is the same Cleaner attending the same client on each visit, and using the client's products, it helps to prevent any cross contamination.

The Home Maid would like to thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Joanna - hello@thehomemaid.co.uk or 07376 353243.

Thanks and take care!

CLEANER AND CLIENT UPDATE - CORONAVIRUS (1 July 2020)

As Scotland enters into phase two from 18 June, it is beginning to feel like life is slowly returning to some kind of normality. While there is still a long way to go, and we all must remain cautious and vigilant, it is nice to be able to meet more people outside. Shops have started to reopen and we were so happy to be able to take our 1 year old to the playpark again! Simple things we used to take for granted and can now feel so thankful for!

We have seen more and more Clients who had suspended their service return and we are almost back to full capacity. Most of our Cleaners are also back working. We are grateful to the patience and loyalty from our Clients and Cleaners throughout such a difficult period.

While recent figures in Scotland are encouraging, coronavirus is still very much with us and we encourage everyone to stay safe and follow our list of precautions here while cleaning work is being carried out.

If there is anything I can help with or if you have any questions, you are very welcome to email me hello@thehomemaid.co.uk

CLEANER AND CLIENT UPDATE - CORONAVIRUS (18 May 2020)

Some clients who had suspended their service have now resumed and other clients have been enquiring about restarting. Most of our cleaners are also available for work.  We are therefore asking everyone, where cleaning work is being done, to please observe the following precautions to ensure the safety for everyone.

  • The Cleaner should wash their hands on entering and leaving the client’s home

  • 2 meters social distancing should be maintained at all times.  Where possible, the client should leave the property (or vacate the room) while the cleaning is being done

  • Most of our cleaners have said they are happy to wear face masks. Clients can provide this for their cleaner however some of our cleaners have their own

  • Please use cash free payment where possible

  • If you or anyone in your household have symptoms or if you are a vulnerable person –please skip cleaning

  • Please ensure good ventilation in the area where the Cleaner is working, including opening the window

On top of your regular cleaning routine we also recommend the following:

  • Special attention should be paid to 'high-touch' areas, such as door, cupboard handles, light switches, TV remotes, tables and countertops

  • Surfaces should be cleaned using regular products, then disinfected using a good antibacterial spray

  • Warm water should be used when cleaning surfaces and mopping floors, to maximise the effectiveness of cleaning products

  • Cleaning cloths and mop covers should be washed at a high temperature (60C+) after every use

Thank you for your understanding.

Stay safe!

CLEANER AND CLIENT UPDATE - CORONAVIRUS (8 May 2020)

The last 6 weeks have been really difficult not only for us in the UK but for the world as a whole. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the lives of us all. It has also been a difficult time for us, for our cleaners and for many of our clients - people were calling to postpone their scheduled services, put their subscriptions on hold, or even cancel. We have done our best to keep a level head but it has been difficult at times.

But we have also found positives. Some clients have needed our service more than ever and we have #NHS clients who are working hard to keep us all safe. In the past week or so we have also seen clients who had suspended their service restarting with their cleaner.

Another positive is that we’ve heard from many of our cleaners that they have been paid since the lockdown started. Many of our clients have also let us know that they understand the difficulties we are facing and were happy to either not have the cleaner come in at all or come in while observing social distancing guidelines. Many clients also wanted to be sure that their cleaner will be ok financially during the troubling times we are all in. This has been fantastic for morale and our cleaners really do appreciate being appreciated!

We are all in this together. Let's:

  • Support each other

  • Respect each other

  • Understand each other

  • Help each other

Stay safe!

CLEANER AND CLIENT UPDATE - CORONAVIRUS (24 April 2020)

The safety of our customers and cleaners remains paramount.

While some of our clients have understandably suspended their service over the past few weeks, others have found the service invaluable at this time and have continued to have their cleaner visit taking care to observe hygiene and social distancing guidelines. In the past week we have started to see clients who had suspended their cleaning restart their service.

While we are not recommending restarting the service yet, we feel it is important to point out the following precautions, which should be observed while any cleaning work is being done:

  • 2 meters social distancing should be observed at all times. If possible, the client should leave the property (or vacate the room) while the cleaning is being done.

  • Please use cash free payment wherever possible

  • The Cleaner should wash their hands on entering and leaving the property

  • Most of our cleaners have said they are happy to wear PPE. It is the client's responsibility to provide PPE for their cleaner however some of our cleaners do have their own

  • If a cleaner or client has symptoms or is a vulnerable person they should not work

For any client who is considering resuming their domestic cleaning service, please contact Joanna on 07376 353243 or by email at hello@thehomemaid.co.uk to discuss.

If it is not possible to leave the home then please vacate the room where the cleaner is working.
